Nun, da er auf einem Hügelkamm lag und den Blick über Isaac's Zufluchtsort schweifen lies, ertappte Carlos sich bei dem Wunsch, mehr zeit darauf verwendet zu haben, diesen Mann zu hassen. Insbesondere in Anbetracht der Tatsache, dass er es gewesen war, der Alice in etwas verwandelt hatte, das sie zwang, ihm so lange fernzubleiben. Er sah hinüber zu Alice, die durch einen Feldstecher spähte. Carlos war sich nicht sicher, was er für sie empfand. er hatte nie verstanden, was Liebe war, damals, als es noch eine Welt gegeben hatte, und heute war dafür einfach keine Zeit. Aber er wusste, dass Alice ihm von dem Moment an wichtig gewesen war, da er ihr im Keller von Angies Schule begegnet war.
Und jetzt waren sie wieder vereint - gerade rechtzeitig zu seinem Tod.
